When I think about travelling, the first word that comes to mind is pause, a suspended time during which to observe the world with a different, but not borrowed, gaze. It's always me behind that look, but I recover those permeabilities called amazement and curiosity. An inner attitude, a switch that goes from off to on, indifferent to flattery, rationalizations, notions learned over time. This modified body that I travel with, solicited and transformed by any contact, beyond my control. I have been traveling lately, and I would like to name at least two artists that I have come across: William Kentridge (Royal Academy of Arts in London) and Cy Twombly (Museum Brandhorst in Munich). The first, South African, living, exceptional, transversal to many disciplines, overwhelms with his creative power. The second, well known and institutionalized, always surprises with his poetry and timeless elegance.
Wish you a wonderful day,
Giulia Mouse
